David Lord, 70, of Perry died July 26, 2005, at the Perry Lutheran Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial was at Ashton Cemetery in rural Mingo.
David Lord was born Dec. 4, 1934, to Colin Wilford and Vera (Robinett) Lord of rural Lorimor. He attended the Kasson one-room school near his home through eighth grade and graduated from Winterset High School in 1953 and Iowa State College in 1957. On Sept. 8, 1957, he was united in marriage to Maizie Holmes. David served 21 years in the Iowa National Guard. He was the owner of Lord’s Men’s and Boys’ Clothing Store in Perry for 25 years and Four-Seasons Car Wash and Mini-Storage for 26 years. He also served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1995 to 2000 and the Iowa Senate during 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Maizie, of Perry; four sons, David Philip of Clemons, Timothy of Bloomington, Ill., Colin of Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea and Daniel at home; a sister, Emily DeFord of Perry; and seven grandchildren.
