W. E. GOODSON DIES AT 96 YEARS

Van Meter Resident Died Last Wednesday in Des Moines

William E. Goodson of Van Meter died Wednesday, Sept. 13, at a Des Moines hospital at the age of 96 years.

Mr. Goodson was born and lived 90 years in Jefferson township, five miles south of Van Meter. He had moved into Van Meter six years ago.

He was born June 15, 1871, a son of William N. and Martha Clayton Goodson. He was married January 11, 1894, to Nettie Swallow. Her death occurred in 1965.

Surviving are a son, Roscoe S. Goodson of Van Meter; three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Robinson and Mrs. Pearle Johnson of Van Meter and Mrs. Mildred Bailey of Kansas City; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Fisher Funeral home in Van Meter, with the Rev. Milton Lents officiating. Burial was made in the Clayton cemetery.
