Wesley Albert Goodman, Perry

Wesley Albert Goodman, 73, died Fri. Jan. 24 at his home in Perry. Services were held January 28 at Hastings Funeral Home, Perry, with Pastor Harold Schroeder officiating.

He was born November 23, 1918 in Wright County near Dows to Harry Christopher and Valborg Christine (Larson) Goodman and attended school near Peru. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran whose name is included on the Veterans Memorial Plaque in Winterset, having served in the European Theatre and also Australia. He married Mary Post in 1944 in Winterset and served as a farmhand in the area. In 1950, he moved to Perry and worked at the Perry Foundry and as a farmhand. Mr. Goodman was a former member of the American Legion Post #85 in Perry.

He was preceded in death by his father, a son in infancy and a nephew.

Survivors include a son, William of Council Bluffs; a daughter, Opal Whitlock of Des Moines; his mother of Perry; three brothers, Donald of Perry, Clyde of Jefferson and his twin, Lesley Goodman of Knoxville; two sisters, Florence Lee of Perry, Stella Anderson of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.

Burial was at Violet Hill Cemetery, Perry.
