DOMINIC M. MELROY Of Bevington Dies

Bevington (Special) June 29, 1938

Dominic M. Melroy, well known Madison county resident, died early Sunday morning, June 26th, at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines, after a several weeks illness. He was taken to the hospital three weeks ago.

Mr. Melroy was born June 13, 1876, on the Melroy farm two miles northwest of Bevington in the same home in which he spent all of his life. He was one of a family of fourteen children, of whom three died in infancy.

His surviving brothers are John of Council Bluffs, Thomas of Norton, Kansas, Michael of Ottawa, Kansas, Peter and William of Prole, and his one surviving sister is Mrs. W. J. Smith of Churchville. His brothers who preceded him in death are Marcus Manus, James, Frank and Joseph.

Funeral services were held at the Church of the Assumption in Churchville, Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. The Rev. P. J. Casey read the requiem mass and the burial service. Interment was in S. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.

The pall bearers were nephews: Thomas Melroy of Ottawa, Kansas, Leo Melroy of Norton, Kansas, James Melroy of Davenport, Charles Melroy and Edwin Smith of Des Moines, and Dale Melroy of Bevington. Mass servers were Eugene Gallagher and Robert Smith of Churchville.
