Death Occurs After Brief Illness With Acute Leukemia
Wayne L. Golightly, a well-known resident of the DeSoto community, died Wednesday Aug. 29 at a Des Moines hospital, after a 10-day illness with acute leukemia. He was 38 years of age.
Mr. Golightly was a son of John and Fern Golightly, and was a life-long resident of Dallas county, where he had engaged in farming. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. army. His church membership was with the Methodist church at DeSoto.
Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Raber; two children, Michael, aged 13, and Patricia, aged 11; his parents; a brother, Robert Golightly of DeSoto; and two sisters, Helen of Des Moines and Barbara of Marshalltown.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the DeSoto Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Leonard Root. Burial was made in Resthaven cemetery in West Des Moines.
