GEORGE COOPER Of Patterson Dies

George G. Cooper, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 1972, at his home in Patterson. He was 70 years of age.

Mr. Cooper had retired after many years as an employee at the Penn-Dixie quarry near Winterset. He had also engaged in farming during his active life.

He was born in Union township Dec. 21, 1901, a son of Joseph O. and Margaret Thornburg Cooper. He was married at Winterset Dec. 27, 1922, to Mabel D. Faux, who survives him.

Mr. Cooper was a member of the Methodist church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves 10 children, Byron Cooper of Winterset, Mrs. Josephine Couch of Churchville, Mrs. Dorothy Hayes of Boone, Mrs. Zola Sheely of Peoria, Ill., Mrs. Pearl Cronk of Winterset, Robert Cooper of Des Moines, Mrs. Shirley Freeman of St. Charles, Mrs. Daisy Aubrey of Des Moines, Barbara Cooper of Des Moines, and Mrs. Sharon Truelsen of Chariton.

He also leaves 33 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Kline of Kansas, Mrs. Helen Faux of St. Charles, Roy Cooper and Charles Cooper of Winterset, Henry Cooper of Melcher, and Mrs. Opal Huddleson of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. William L. Andre. Burial was made in the McGinnis cemetery at Patterson.
