ELIZA CADE Died Friday

Mrs. Eliza Cade of DeSoto died Friday, Sept. 22, 1972, at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Cade lived most of her life in Madison county. She was the former Eliza Backes, daughter of Peter and Bertha Ball Backes, and was born near Luzerne on Aug. 19, 1886. She was married to Fred V. Cade on Dec. 31, 1913, and they made their home on a farm in Madison county. His death occurred Nov. 22, 1960. Since 1964 she had made her home with her son, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cade in DeSoto.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran church of Van Meter, and of the Ladies' Aid and Fellowship clubs of the church. She also was a member of the Town and Country club, and the Jefferson township Farm Bureau.

She leaves five children, Harold Cade of DeSoto, Mrs. Edna Waltz of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Lois Weigand of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. Gladys Jensen and Charles Cade of Winterset. She also leaves seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Wagner of Marysville, Pa, Mrs. Rose Ruff of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Alma Voeltz of Van Horne.

Funeral services were held Sept. 25 from Trinity Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Breiholz. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
