Joyce Berniece Givan, Winterset

Services for Joyce Berniece Givan, 49, Winterset who died Fev. 17 at her home here, were held Monday morning at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Mrs. Givan was born at Macksburg Nov. 14, 1933, the daughter of George and Ethelyn Lattig Spencer. She was a lifetime resident and belonged to the Child Welfare organization, the United Methodist Women and was a past member of the Sunshine Garden Club.

She was married to Louis Givan in Winterset Jan. 2, 1951 and was a homemaker. She also worked at the Ben Franklin store here for about three years.

Survivors include her husband; mother; sons, Mike of Winterset, Mark of Perry and Jim of Des Moines; daughters, Karen Brittain of Winterset and Lynn Trout of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; brothers, Jerry, George and Gary Spencer, all of Winterset, Harold Spencer of Red Oak and Bill Spencer of Lorimor; sisters, Marlene Saxton and Delores Losee of Winterset, and Kathy Lansing of Eldon, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and a grandson.

WINTERSET, IA. — Services for Joyce Givan, 49, of Winterset, who died of cancer Thursday at her home, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, with burial at Winterset Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Louis; three sons, Michael of Winterset, Mark of Perry and Jim of Des Moines; two daughters, Karen Brittain of Winterset and Lynn Trout of Fort Morgan, Colo.; her mother, Ethelyn Spencer of Winterset; five brothers, Harold Spencer of Red Oak, Bill Spencer of Lorimor and Jerry Spencer, George Spencer and Gary Spencer, all of Winterset; three sisters, Marlene Saxton and Delores Losee, both of Winterset, and Kathy Lansing of Eldon, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Collins Funeral Home.
