Winterset Madisonian - January 21, 1959

Clyde L. Wilkinson, a well-known pharmacist and drug store owner in Peru and Winterset for many years died here last Thursday, Jan. 15, after an extended illness. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Wilkinson was born at Winterset on Sept. 30, 1889, a son of Henry and Minnie Darnall Wilkinson. As a young man he studied pharmacy, and then opened a drug store in Peru, which he operated for 20 years.

About 1930 he moved to Winterset, operating a store on the south side of the square for about 14 years. For the last 12 years he had been employed as a pharmacist at a drug store in Colfax.

He was married at Peru on Feb. 22, 1911, to Ruth Smith. Her death occurred in 1942. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Beverlin of Peru, and by two sons, Robert Wilkinson of Fullerton, Calif., and Jim Wilkinson of Mt. Vernon, Ia. He also leaves six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and a sister, Mrs. Harry C. Balch of Toledo, Ohio.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Anderson home for funerals in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Forrest Davis. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
