ELEANOR WICKSTRAND, Oregon

Eleanor F. Wickstrand, 87, of Portland, Ore., died Sept. 18, 2002, following a stroke.

A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 20, at the Lincoln Memorial Park Funeral Home in Portland with Pastor Warren Fleischmann officiating. Entombment was in the Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Eleanor Wickstrand was born Oct. 14, 1914, to James Ira and Mattie (Cochran) Tucker of rural Macksburg. A graduate of Macksburg High School, she attended Simpson College and Drake University, earning a teaching certificate. Eleanor was a primary teacher for 16 years in Iowa, teaching in Cambria, Glenwood, Newton and Des Moines. On August 24, 1950, she married Arthur T. Wickstrand of Portland, Ore. Following their marriage, they moved to Portland where she substitute taught for 27 years, in addition to private tutoring. She was a member of the Hinson Baptist Church and Women's Missionary Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail Parker (husband Bob) and Janice Wickstrand, both of Portland, Ore.; a son, Alan Wickstrand (wife Georgene) of Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Ruth Tucker of Winterset, Kathryn Kyner (husband Max) of Boulder, Colo., and Jean Greenwood of Clive; three brothers, Blaine Tucker (wife Darlene) of Branson, Mo., Keith Tucker (wife Ethel-Lee) of Winterset and Max Tucker (wife Mary Jo) of Macksburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
