FORMER WINTERSET MINISTER IS DEAD

Rev. Jackson Giddens Served As Methodist Pastor Here 25 Years Ago

The Rev. Jackson Giddens, pastor of the First Methodist church in Winterset during the years of the first world war and immediately after, died at a nursing home in Des Moines last Thursday night. He was 68 years of age.

The Rev. Mr. Giddens had been ill for two and a half years, following a cerebral hemorrhage, suffered at that time.

After leaving Winterset about 1920, the Rev. Mr. Giddens held pastorates at Nevada and Woodbine, served as field superintendent for the Iowa Methodist hospital, and was business manager of Iowa Wesleyan college from 1930 to 1941.

He is survived by his wife of Indianola; a son, Dr. Paul Giddens of Meadville, Pa.; and three daughters, Mrs. Mario Pagano of Indianola, Mrs. Robert Wustrow of Keokuk, and Grace Giddens assistant field director of a Red Cross unit in Hawaii.

Funeral services were held at Indianola Sunday, with burial at Frazer, Mo., where he was born.
