Services For Floye Garrett

Services for Floye Beard Garrett, 85, of Sun City, Arizona, who died May 25th , were held Saturday, May 28th at Dunn Funeral Home, Des Moines, with burial at the Moon Cemetery in Macksburg.

Born in Macksburg June 22, 1892, she married Dr. H. U. Garrett April 26, 1910. She lived most of her life in St. Charles where her husband was a veterinarian in that community. Dr. Garrett preceded her in death April 2, 1957.

While in the St. Charles area, Mrs. Garrett was a member of the Christian Church, teaching Sunday school for many years and active in other church and community affairs. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Colfax, Iowa, and later to Minneapolis. In November of last year she moved to Sun City to be near her daughter.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth of Mason City, a son, Doyle of Huntington Beach, California, and a daughter, Nadine Kunz of Sun City, Arizona, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three half brothers.

FLOYE GARRETT

Floye Garrett, 84, a former Des Moines resident, died Wednesday in Sun City, Ariz., where she had been residing.

Services will be a 1 p.m. Saturday at Dunn’s Funeral Home on Grand Avenue, with burial in a Macksburg cemetery.

Born in Macksburg, Mrs. Garrett lived in Des Moines from 1942 to 1959. She was a former member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church here.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Mason City, and Doyle of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. George Kunz of Sun City; three brothers, Howard Beard of Des Moines, and Myron and Fred Beard, both of Eugene, Ore.; a sister, Vesta Allen, of Oakland, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
