Des MoinesServices for Verle E. Fuson will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 7 at Hamilton's Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles, Iowa at 2 p.m. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Verle passed away on November 4, 2003 at the Taylor House with his family at his side. He was born on June 19, 1919 in Winterset, Iowa to Leila and Guy Fuson. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1937.
Verle married his best friend and love of his life, Ella Jean Mathews on December 21, 1941. He served his country in the Army-Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1945. After WW II, he worked for Hummel Brothers as an auto mechanic. After retirement, Verle delivered Meals on Wheels for over 17 years, spoiling all those he served. He enjoyed helping others!
He is survived by his wife, Ella Jean of Des Moines; his son, Eugene (Ellen) Fuson of Cape Fair, MO; his daughter, Sharon (Jim) Stevens of Mountain Home, AR: grandchildren, Mark Stevens of Fayetteville, AR; Suzanne (Chris) Neff of Houston, TX, Francesca (C.L.) Brownsberger of Blue Springs, MO, and Danielle (Jeff) Sharpe of Des Moines; his great grandchildren, James and Regan Brownsberger, Stephanie and David Neff and Spencer and Sydney Sharpe. He is also survived by two sister, Marguerite (Leland) Brown and Wilma Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
