Frances M. Fry, San Diego

Frances Meredith Fry, 85, a Winterset native, died Sun., July 28 in San Diego, Cal.

A daughter of Ed M. and Evalyn Crossley Smith, she was born in Winterset in 1906. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1923. She attended Grinnell College and graduated from the University of Iowa.

In 1927 she married Wesley L. Fry. During his college and professional football coaching career, they lived in Oklahoma City, Manhatten, Kan., Evanston, Ill. and Berkley, Cal.

She is survived by one son, James Wesley Fry of San Diego; and one daughter, Meredith Boyd of San Luis Obispo, Cal.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services were held Tues., July 30, from Humphrey Mortuary, Chula Vista, Cal. Her ashes will be interred in a family plot at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, California.
