Otto E. Riley of Winterset, a retired Crawford township farmer, died Monday, Feb. 3, 1969, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, after an extended period of failing health. He was 80 years of age.
Mr. Riley had been a resident of Madison county for 63 years, and spent most of that time farming in the Patterson area, where he was active in township affairs over a long period of years. He retired and moved into Winterset in 1962.
He was born in Des Moines on Jan. 6, 1889, a son of William and Etta Ogburn Riley. He was married at Patterson Feb. 4, 1914, to Etta Folwell, who survives him.
He was a member of the Patterson Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife; a brother, Earl Riley of Fruita, Colo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Winnie Keith of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Dulcie Dyer of Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. James N. Louk of the Patterson Methodist church. Burial will be made in Montpelier cemetery at Patterson.
