G. EARLE WHITWORTH, Macksburg

Services for G. Earle Whitworth, 77, a lifetime resident of Macksburg who died April 21, 1983, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines after a lengthy illness, were held Saturday at the Macksburg Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathy Bissen officiating. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.

Born Oct. 13, 1905, southeast of Macksburg, he was the son of George and Alice Smith Whitworth. On May 31, 1926, he married Luella Christine in Clarion.

Mr. Whitworth had a barber shop in Macksburg since 1924 and also operated an insurance agency. He retired in 1982. He was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church, and Fern Lodge No. 558 AF and AM, Grand River Lodge No. 406 of the IOOF, Hawthorne Lodge No. 350 of the Rebekah Venus Chapter No. 295, Order of the Eastern Star, all of Lorimor.

Survivors include his wife, sons, George of Spencer and Alan of Cedar Rapids, and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, sister and two half sisters.
