September 1965CECIL WHITLOW, Former Resident Dies in Des Moines
Cecil Whitlow, a native of Winterset but a resident of Des Moines most of his life, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1965, in a Des Moines hospital, following a heart attack. He was 57 years of age.
Mr. Whitlow was a son of Marion and Josephine Whitlow, and was born here Dec. 4, 1907. He moved to Des Moines as a young man, and had been employed by the Rock Island Motor Transit for 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Odean; a son, David; a grandaughter; two brothers, Wendell of Des Moines and Lloyd of San Antonio, Texas, and four sisters, Mrs. Rosie Hildebrand of Winterset, Mrs. Mary Tyler, Mrs. LeDena Christiansen and Mrs. Maxine Scott all of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Hamilton Funeral home in Des Moines, with burial in Sunset Memorial gardens there.
Attending the services from Winterset were Mr. and Mrs. Orie Hildebrand, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Allen, Mrs. Hugh Hildebrand and Mrs. Hugh Cunningham.
