Three Deaths Tuesday Morning

Notice has been received as the deaths of three local residents Tuesday morning. Services are pending from Collins Funeral Home for Julia King and Lola Davis of Winterset and for Helen Martha Beck of St. Charles.

Miss King died of an apparent heart attack at her home in Winterset Monday night or early Tuesday morning. There will be a Rosary at Collins Wednesday evening, Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. services for Miss King will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset, Thursday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Lola Davis, 79, died Tuesday at Madison Manor North Nursing Home where she was a resident. Services will be held at Collins Funeral Home Thursday, August 19 at 1:30 p.m. with burial at Earlham Cemetery.

Services for Helen Beck, 74, will be held from Collins, Friday, August 20 at 10:30 a.m.

A 79-year-old resident of Madison Manor South nursing home, Lola Estelle Davis died Tuesday, August 17, 1976. She was born October 2, 1896, in Warren County, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph C. Essick and Bertha M. Jellison Essick.

Mrs. Davis was a resident of Madison County for about 50 years. She was married to Edwin Davis who died in June, 1967.

Also preceding Mrs. Davis in death were her parents, one brother and four sisters.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Nina) Brittain, Winterset; Mrs. Wayne (Ila) Criss, California; Mrs. Bob (Barbara) Barnard, California; Mrs. Wade (Francis) Coursey, California and Mrs. Sonja Wismer, New Jersey.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren, one sister, Anna Barnes of Michigan, and one brother, Frank Essick of Kentucky.

Funeral services for Lola Estelle Davis were conducted Thursday, August 19, at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home, Rev. Kathryn McDougal officiating. Burial was made at the Earlham Cemetery.
