William Howard Freeman, 55, of St. Charles, died Sept. 13, 1994 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Sept. 15, 1994 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Charles Parish Church. The Rev. Dan Slater of Des Moines and the Rev. Ed Poston of St. Charles will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Wednesday) afternoon with family visitation from 6-8 p.m. at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro.
He was born Feb. 19, 1939 in Guthrie County to Leo E. and Hyila (Brooks) Freeman. He married Shirley Cooper on Aug. 2, 1958 in Greene County. He was a foreman for Des Moines School District and lived the last 23 years in St. Charles. He was a member of the local Square Dance Clubs; local 242 Allied Paint and Trade; South Township Sod Bust; and a 4-H leader. He was a member of the Open Bible Church at Fort Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving relatives include his wife; his mother; three sons, Ronald William Freeman and wife Brenda of New Virginia, Mark Wayne Freeman and fiancee Mindy Kay Shy of Minneapolis, Minn., and Kirk Allan Freeman of New Orleans, La.; seven sisters, Harriet Ayers of Carroll, Ramona Waldo of Jefferson, Wanda Richards of Muscatine, Kathleen Swanki of Riverton, Jolene Olson of Indianola, Valerie West of Jefferson, and Twila Nelson of Madrid; three brothers, Charles Freeman of Jefferson, John Freeman of Ottumwa and David Freeman of Ames; and three grandchildren.
