Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Evans Funeral home in Dexter for Mrs. Myrtle Ford, whose death had occurred May 20 at the home of her son, Howard Ford of near Pitzer. The Rev. Mr. Young of Earlham conducted the services. Burial was made in the Jackson township cemetery.
Mrs. Ford was the former Myrtle E. Spencer, daughter of Elijah and Georgeanna Wells Spencer. She was born in Lucas, Ia., Aug. 30, 1888. Her death occurred at the age of 79 years.
On Aug. 3, 1916, she was married to Francis L. Ford. They moved to Madison county where she spent the remainder of her life.
In earlier years she participated in the Pitzer church and in recent years had been active in the Golden Age club in Winterset.
Her husband died in 1945. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Margaret Algreen of Winterset, Mrs. Francis Sieh of Stuart, and Howard Ford of Dexter. She also leaves eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Mahaffey of Des Moines and two brothers, Herbert Spencer of Murray and Edwin Spencer of Portland, Ore.

Page 6, Columns 6 & 7Myrtle Elma Spencer Ford, daughter of Elijah and Georgeanna Wells Spencer, was born August 30, 1888 in Lucas, Iowa. She passed away on May 20, 1968 at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 20 days.
On August 3, 1916 she was united in marriage to Francis Louis Ford and moved to Madison County where she spent the rest of her life, living in their original home most of the time. To this union three children were born: Mrs. Margaret Algreen of Winterset, Mrs. Francis Sieh of Stuart, and Howard Ford of Dexter.
In earlier years she participated in the Pitzer Church and was active in the Golden Age Club in Winterset in later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1945; by her mother, father and four brothers.
She is survived by her three children eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Mahaffey of Des Moines two brothers Herbert Spencer of Murray, Iowa and Edwin Spencer of Portland, Oregon and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, May 23 at the Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Ward Young officiating. Casket bearers were Floyd Hart, Claude Beaman, Everett Boss, Dean Shelley, Wayne Stanley and George Hart. Interment was in the Jackson Township Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa.
