Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Finney, former Madison county resident, who died Oct. 12 at Winslow, Ariz. were held last Thursday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset. The Rev. Charles Updike, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church, officiated at the services. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
Mrs. Finney was the former Mary Grace Hindman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hindman. She was born on a farm in the Oak Grove community Sept. 22, 1886, and was 82 years of age at her death.
As a young woman she taught rural school in this county. She was married Oct. 12, 1904 to Nelson Finney. A few years later they moved to Dalton, Nebr., where they engaged in farming until 1922, when they returned to Iowa. Mr. Finney died 13 years ago.
Mrs. Finney is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Brown of Rimrock, Ariz.; a son, Kenneth Finney; five grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Dodd of El Paso, Tex., Mrs. Lua Dodd of Johnstown, Nebr., and Mrs. Aletha DeWitt of Eldora; and two brothers, Del Hindman of Newton and Lloyd Hindman of Longmont, Colo.
