Vernon Files Death October 29

A rural Lorimor resident, Vernon Ray Files, born December 11, 1913, died Wednesday, October 29, 1976, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 62 years of age.

The son of George W. Files and Amy George Files, Vernon Files was born at Clifty, Arkansas. He was married to Betty L. Simpson on Decmeber 26, 1967 in Grant City, Missouri.

Vernon Files moved to Madison County in 1955. He worked as a car salesman, was employed for eight years at the Winterset light plant, and farmed. He retired in 1976. Mr. Files was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Winterset.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; three daughters, Michelle Renee Files, rural Lorimor; Dorothy White, Marshalltown; Kathy Peterson, Sheldon, Iowa; two sons, Ray Files and Robert Files, both of Phoenix, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and one step-brother, Frank Files. Mr. Files was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Vernon R. Files were conducted Monday, November 1, at 2 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home, Ken Peterson officiating. Burial was made at the Clifty Cemetery, Clifty, Arkansas, with graveside services Wednesday, November 3, at 9:30 a.m.
