Edith E. Fay, Newton

Edith E. Fay, 94, of Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton and formerly of Victor, died Wednesday, July 9, 1986 at Nelson Manor.

She was the daughter of Walter and Anna Read Bowlsby and was born on Jan. 6, 1892 near Winterset. She was raised in Madison County near Winterset where she attended rural schools. She later moved into Winterset where she worked as a seamstress.

On June 15, 1932, she was married to Rev. Harold B. Fay at Winterset. Following their marriage, the couple served in many Methodist churches throughout Iowa. They retired in 1960 and moved to Victor. She has lived at Nelson Manor in Newton since 1977. She was also a life long member of the United Methodist Church at Winterset.

Survivors include her son, Ardillo Fay of Victor; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents; her husband in 1978, and one sister, Bessie Johnson.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 11 at the McAninch-Fremming Funeral Home in Victor with the Rev. Elsa Marsland, pastor of the United Church of Christ-First Congregational in Belle Plaine, officiating. Graveside services were held Saturday, July 12 at the Winterset Cemetery.
