Leon Arthur "Bill" Fairholm 80, of New Fairfield, Conn., died Aug. 27, 2001, at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Conn.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 30, at the New Fairfield Congregational Church. Burial was at Mountainview Cemetery in New Fairfield.

Bill Fairholm was born Nov. 27, 1920 in Winterset to Harry R. and Marguerite A. (Joy) Fairholm. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Coast Guard. In the 1950's, Bill started a small business doing carpentry work and painting for about 15 years before his retirement. He was a member of the New Fairfield Congregational Church, New Fairfield Veterans Association, president of the Mountainview Cemetery Association in New Fairfield, a charter member of the Squantz Pond Volunteer Fire Department and a life member of V.F.W. Post 149 in Danbury.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth (Chatterton) Fairholm; and two brothers.

He is survived by a son, Richard Fairholm of Grand Prairie, Texas; a daughter, Claudia Denton of Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Joy Lauer of Winterset; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the Parkinson's Disease Association, 175 Sherman Ave., Plymouth Building, New Haven, Conn. 06511.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Tomlinson Homestead, Danbury, Conn.
