HARRIET E. WILLIAMS, Winterset

Harriet E. Williams, 85, of Winterset died of complications due to a stroke July 23, 1999, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 26, at the Lorimor United Methodist Church with the Revs. Neil Platon and William Branson officiating. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.

Harriet Williams was born Nov. 3, 1913, to Cary Gilbert and Mary Jane (Simpson) Waugh of Barney. She was educated in Madison County and Lorimor schools. On Aug. 8, 1932 she married Lyle W. Williams in Grant City, Mo. A homemaker, Harriet was a lifetime resident of the Lorimor area, moving to Winterset in December, 1997. She was a 50-year member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Lorimor and a member of the United Methodist Church and the Merry Fu Book Club, both of Lorimor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by two sons, Donald Williams (wife Coleen) of Lorimor and Robert Williams (wife Phyllis) of Winterset; a sister-in-law, Ruth Waugh of Winterset; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Powers Funeral Home in Afton.
