CLAUDE WILLIAMS, Winterset

Claude M. Williams, 78, of Winterset died Dec. 20, 2003, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was at Montpelier Cemetery in rural Patterson.

Claude Williams was born March 16, 1925, to Clarence and Rena (Williams) Willams of Beardstown, Ill. On Oct. 10, 1952, he was united in marriage to Patricia Joyce Neal in Richfield, Minn. Claude had been a tree surgeon at Wright's Tree Service for 37 years. He also was a World War II veteran, having served as a Ranger with the 10th Mt. Division, and a member of the Izaak Walton League in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Williams of Indianola; three daughters, Patsy Argel of Florence, Ariz., Sharon Rinkert of West Des Moines and Sue Schreck of Lees Summit, Mo.; three sons, Robert Williams of Lone Tree, Colo., Gary Williams of Winterset and Steve Williams of Des Moines; a sister; two brothers; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
