LEONARD WILLIAMS

Leonard Williams who lived in Winterset for many years, passed away at his home in Highland Park, Des Moines, May 8, 1921, being almost 90 years of age. Thus is removed from us one of the pioneers of Madison County.

Mr. Williams came from Illinois to Iowa about 55 years ago and spent nearly all these years in Madison county, removing to Des Moines only a few years ago. Mr. Williams was a faithful husband and father, a loyal citizen and a consistent member of the Church of Christ. His long useful life would prove an interesting subject if a lengthy article but his history is written in the hearts and lives of those whom he loved and served.

Besides his seven children, he leaves 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. All the children except two, were present at the funeral which was held at the Christian church in De Soto, where he was laid to rest. The funeral sermon was delivered by his old friend and one time pastor at Winterset, J. M. Lowe.
