William Ross McNichols, a resident of Madison County since 1895, died at the Winterset hospital Tuesday, ending a long struggle with failing health. He was 49 years old.
Mr. McNichols was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. McNichols, and was born in Dallas county on November 4, 1888. In 1895, he came with his parents to Madison county and had been a resident since that time.
On September 4, 1912, he was married to Verna May Leach. They were the parents of eight children. Two of them died in infancy. The surviving children are Lucille, Wilbur, Ethel, Willard, Blanche and Kenneth.
In 1898, he united with the West Star Methodist church. He transferred his membership to he Winterset Methodist church in 1928, under the pastorate of the REv. A. P. Keast.
In addition to his children, he is survived by his wife; his parents of Oskaloosa; two brothers, Ray McNichols of Adel and Roy McNichols of Greenfield; and a sister, Mrs. G. W. Davis of Central City.
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. M. R. Talley. Burial was to be made in the McDonald cemetery.
