Harold E. Eivins, Macksburg

Services for Harold Eugene Eivins, 61, Macksburg, who died Jan. 7, were held Saturday, Jan. 10, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg, with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Moon Cemetery.

Born in rural Macksburg on Feb. 15, 1925, he was the son of Claude Ray and Josephine Clos Eivins. He was married to Jean M. Peckham on April 21, 1946 at Atchison, Kan.

Mr. Eivins attended the Macksburg schools. After his marriage, he moved to Denver and later moved to St. Louis, Mo. He moved to Creston in 1964 and then to Macksburg in 1965. He worked for Cassen Transport of St. Louis, hauling Chrysler products for 29 years.

He was a life member of the Creston VFW post, the Creston American Legion, the Elks and Eagles, Creston, and the IOOF Grand River Lodge of Macksburg. He was a Navy medic with the Marines in the Pacific Theater during World War II and participated in five invasions.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Robert and wife Mona of Macksburg, and Gail and wife Sharie of Des Moines; a daughter, Barbara and husband Arlen Witt of Macksburg; sisters, Mrs. Clarence Lamb and Mrs. Elton Hoepker, both of Creston; and a brother, Lee Eivins of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
