JOHN CHRISTENSEN, Carlisle

John Edward Christensen, 76, of Carlisle died May 28, 2006, at the Carlisle Care Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 3, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset.

John Christensen was born Jan. 12, 1930, in Madison County to Harry Niss and Leta (Bush) Christensen. On June 6, 1974, he married Betty Scurlock in Sioux City. John worked in sales for the J.C. Penney Company. He was a member of the Iowa Bottle Club and CV37 & CV21 Clubs. He also was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean conflict. He had resided in Winterset for approximately 20 years; the remainder of his life was spent in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Carl Christensen; and an infant daughter, Mary Ellen.

He is survived by two sons, John and Christopher; three daughters, Leta, Camille and Mary; a brother, Raymond Christensen of Natchitoches, La.; and 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
