NETTIE ECKSTEIN DIED ON SUNDAY

Madison County Resident For 40 Years Dies in Des Moines

Mrs. Nettie B. Eckstein, a resident of Madison county for 40 years, died Sunday, Jan. 2, at a nursing home in Des Moines. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Eckstein was a native of Carlock, Ill., where she was born May 25, 1897. She was the former Nettie Harris, daughter of Titus and Melissa Palmer Harris.

She was married at Eureka, Ill., on March 16, 1898, to Julius W. Eckstein. They made their home in Madison County from 1918 until 1958, when her husband died. Since then she had lived in Des Moines.

Mrs. Eckstein is survived by two sons, Lawrence R. Eckstein of near Winterset and George G. Eckstein of Des Moines; and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Thorpe of Winterset. She also leaves eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

One of her sons, Lee Earl Eckstein, died in 1954.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. E. K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was to be made in Winterset cemetery.
