1981Eckstein Rites Held Wednesday
Funeral services for Lawrence R. Eckstein of Winterset were held this Wednesday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home here.
Mr. Eckstein died Monday, May 11, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 82 years of age.
A son of Julius and Nettie B. Harris Eckstein, he was born Nov. 15, 1898 at El Paso, Illinois.
A retired farmer, he spent most of his lifetime in Madison county.
He was married to Mary Violet Grout on July 19, 1923 in Winterset. She preceded him in death in 1978.
Surviving are four sons, John, James and Russell all of Winterset, and Earl of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a sister, Mary Thorpe of Winterset; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son and two brothers.
Officiating at the funeral was the Rev. Scott Grotewold. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery.
