Kevin Kyle Summy, 52, of Madrid, died of a heart ailment Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held July 12 at Ankeny First United Methodist Church in Ankeny, of which he was a member. Burial was at Ankeny Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Kevin Summy was born in Redfield and had lived in Earlham as a youth. He had lived in Ankeny 25 years before moving to Madrid four years ago. He had worked in dairy research in Ankeny for Iowa State University and most recently had worked for the Woodward Resource Center. He was a member and past officer of Lakeland Swim Club and a YMCA Volunteer of the Year. He was an organ donor and enjoyed collecting International Harvester toy tractors.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two sons, Timothy of Des Moines and Jeffrey of Evanston, Ill.; his mother, Dolores Summy of Grimes; two brothers, Terry of Kansas City, Mo., and Kenny of Earlham; and two sisters, Kay Bartelt of Grimes and Karla Day of Des Moines.
