JOE DECKER, Lorimor

Joseph Franklin Decker, 67, of Lorimor died May 25, 2006, at his home.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, May 31) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial will be at a later date at the Lorimor Cemetery.

Joe Decker was born April 3, 1939, in Madison County, near Peru, to James Elmer and Martha Vera Grace (Kirsch) Decker and was a 1957 graduate of Lorimor High School. On May 5, 1961, he married Dayna Farlow in Bethany, Mo. Joe worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years with various construction companies; however, most of his career was spent working with Central Construction in Indianola and McAninch Corporation in Des Moines. He retired in 1990. His memberships included Lions Club, Local 234 of Des Moines, LD Club of Lorimor, Union County Sheriff’s Posse and Central States Archeology Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eugene Decker.

He is survived by his wife, Dayna, of Lorimor; two daughters, Dayna “Joy” Brown of Shannon City and Fonda Bradford of Chariton; one son, Curtis Decker of Thayer; two sisters, Marie Porter of Osceola and Lois Dillinger of Peru; five brothers, Dean Decker, Dale Decker and Everett Decker, all of Peru, and Jim Decker and Lee Decker, both of Lorimor; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice.
