CLARK DOWLER DIED SATURDAY

Clark B. Dowler of Winterset a well known retired farmer died Saturday, May 22, at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. He was 66 years of age.

Mr. Dowler was a life-long resident of the county. He was born here Jan. 21, 1905, a son of Wood and Cora Inez Travis Dowler. He engaged in farming in Monroe township for 28 years before retiring in 1966. He moved to Winterset in 1970.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Winterset.

Mr. Dowler was married May 9, 1936, at Indianola, to Mariam Cosand, who survives him.

He also leaves three sons, Charles D. Dowler of Norwalk, David C. Dowler of Denison and John O. Dowler of Muscatine; a daughter, Mrs. Max Newbury of Winterset; a foster son, Merle R. Bancroft of Shelby, Mont.; five grandchildren; four foster grandchildren; a brother, Curtis E. Dowler of Des Moines; and a sister, Mrs. Clark Tolles of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Earl Swigart of Norwalk. Burial was made in the Peru Cemetery with Masonic ritual at the grave-side.
