ROY ELBEN, 52 Of Truro Dies

Funeral services for Roy G. Elben, band instructor at I-35 schools for 10 years, were held Sunday, Dec. 24, from the Webster-Kale Funeral home in Osceola.

Elben, a resident of Truro, died Dec. 21, 1978, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was 52 years of age.

A son of Grant and Ida Wigrin Elben, he was born April 11, 1926 at Albert Lea, Minn. He attended schools at Albert Lea, and graduated from Mankato State College, Mankato, Minn.

Mr. Elben was a bank instructor for 25 years, 10 of those at Truro. Most recently he traveled for the Frank Rieman Music Co.

He was a member of the Iowa Bandmasters club, the Masonic Lodge and Lutheran Church in Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Mary Stippich, in November 1963. He was married to Helen Houlette on June 17, 1965, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Bruce Elben of Indianola, James Elben of Torrington, Wyoming, and Joel Elben of Des Moines; a step-son, Stanley Houlette of New Virginia; a step-daughter, Linda Simmons of Indianola; a step-father, Nels Berg of Albert Lea, Minn.; and six grandchildren.

Officiating at the service Sunday was the Rev. Charles Bonner of New Virginia. Burial was in the New Virginia Cemetery.
