Martha Anne Hogg, daughter of William and Elizabeth Hogg was born August 22, 1860 in Madison county, Iowa, and departed this life at her home near Peru, June 8, 1931, at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 16 days. She was united in marriage to Elijah Hayden January 12, 1882. To this union was born 6 children, 2 girls and 4 boys. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Rose. The four sons Walter, Dennis, June and Teddy, twenty-seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers and many other relatives and friends. One daughter, May, preceded her in death.
She has been in failing health several years. On Monday, June 1, she was taken seriously ill and passed away one week later, Monday, June 8.
About thirty years ago she united with the Christian church. She confessed her faith in Christ in 1925 and was baptized and has lived a faithful Christian life. She has always been a kind and loving mother and a friend to all.
The Reverend Mr. Marshall, pastor of the Church of God conducted her funeral services Wednesday, June 10 at the home at 10 o’clock and burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
