2000John Edward Leggett, 86, of Winterset, died of pneumonia, on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Memorial services were held Jan. 22 at Kuhn Funeral Homes in Earlham, with burial at the Earlham Cemetery.
John Leggett was born the son of Edward and Jessie Womble Leggett on Oct. 15, 1913 at Pembroke, Ga. He attended school in Savannah, Ga.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah, Ga., and was employed by the Host International Restaurant before retiring in 1968 and moving to Earlham. He was united in marriage June 1948 to Amy Koboldt in Miami, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Leggett of Earlham; a sister, Zelma L. Cherry, of Bellevue, Neb.; a sister, Louise L. Taylor, of Morgan City, La.; several nieces and nephews.
