Emil Lee Dixon, Marshalltown

Emil Lee Dixon, 76, died of a heart attack Feb. 11, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Emil Dixon was born July 21, 1923 to Charles Jackson and Dolly Anna (Haynes) Dixon of Milford, Mo. He grew up near Carbon. An Army veteran of World War II, he married Catherine L. DeBord on Sept. 18, 1946 in Troy, Kan. After his marriage, he moved to Madison County. He later resided in Illinois. Following his retirement in 1988 as a machinist, he moved back to Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, five sisters and a grandson.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Dixon (wife Roxanne) of Pekin, Ill., and Leo Dixon of Greenfield; a daughter, Gloria Cook (husband Bill) of Hartford; a sister, Grace Thompson of Des Moines; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
