October 2001Pauline Iola Mills, 89, died of respiratory failure Oct. 11, 2001, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 15, at Earlham United Methodist Church in Earlham with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Burial was at Bear Creek Cemetery in rural Earlham.
Pauline Mills was born Dec. 6, 1911 in Dallas County near Earlham to Clyde and Lottie (Andrew) Nolte. She graduated from Earlham High School and was a school teacher soon after. On Nov. 17, 1937, she married George C. Mills in Massena, Iowa. They made their home in Earlham. Pauline was a buyer for Woolworth's Department Store in Des Moines. She also worked for Cooper's Variety Store in Earlham, and was a homemaker. Pauline was very active in church activities as well as sewing, reading, volunteer work and local clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, daughter Delores Ann and a granddaughter.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Parker (husband Richard) of Franklin, Tenn., son Chuck Mills of DeSoto, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
