Funeral at Truro For Clara Devine

Funeral services for Clara Juanita Devine, a long-time resident of the Truro community were held last Wednesday afternoon June 19 from the Kale Funeral home in Truro.

Mrs. Devine died June 16 at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. She was 78 years of age.

A daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Ries Burgus, she was born at Murray, Iowa, Jan. 25, 1889. She was married to John Devine Sept. 5, 1910 at Winterset.

Mrs. Devine had resided on a farm south of Truro since 1913. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Truro and of the Oak Run Community Circle.

She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Reed of Anaheim, Calif., Mrs. Lorraine Dick of Truro and Mrs. Joan Jenkins of Sepulveda, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Matilda Morgan of Osceola; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Officials at the service were the Rev. Richard Hempenious and the Rev. James Nicholson.

Burial was in the Murray cemetery in Clarke County.
