Marion C. Davis died of complications due to cancer Monday, Feb. 26, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 90. Private interment of his cremains will be held at the Earlham Cemetery at a later date. Kuhn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Marion C. Davis was born the son of George and Elizabeth (Bane) Davis on May 18, 1910 on the family farm in rural Madison County. He graduated from Earlham High School and went on to graduate from Earlham Junion College.

Marion and Mary Lewellen of Dexter were married in Adel on May 30, 1932. They were blessed with three children, Howard, Richard and Donald.

Marion worked at numerous occupations including: a machinist for Lockheed Aircraft in Los Angeles, Calif; Solar Aircraft in Des Moines; Bendix Company of Davenport; a courier for Purolator Company of Des Moines; as well as farming for himself in Missouri. Marion may have moved off the farm, however his passion for it never did. He loved horses and continued to keep ponies at his home in Des Moines up until the last few years.

Marion loved to visit with friends,neighbors and especially family. He loved to talk about his early years and childhood experiences. Marion loved to read the newspaper and keep up on current events. He spent many hours working in the yard and in his shop fixing small engines.

Marion leaves the following family to celebrate his life: wife Mary of Des Moines; son Howard R. and wife Betty Jean of Ankeny; son Richard L. and wife Evelyn of Altoona; son Donald J. of Des Moines; and many grandchildren.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Carl and Wayne, two sisters Mabel Brooker and Lavonne Vaughan.
