2001Mildred Lillian DeVault, 82, died of a stroke Nov. 26, 2001, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 29, at Penn Center Methodist Church with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Private family interment was held at Penn Center Cemetery.
Mildred DeVault was born Jan. 3, 1919, in rural Dallas County to Clarence and Lora Pryor. She married Marion DeVault on Dec. 28, 1941. They lived briefly near Salt Lake City, Utah, during World War II. Most of her life was spent in and near Earlham. A graduate of Earlham High School and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Mildred held positions as a teller and served as notary public at the Earlham Savings Bank for over 25 years. She retired in 1982.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother.
She is survived by four daughters, Jane Payne of Adel, Susan DeVault of Dallas, Texas, Diane DeVault of Earlham and Barbara Hofmann of DeSoto; a brother, Ivan Pryor of Carroll; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter and Earlham.
