Herman Henry Lager, 86, of Earlham died of kidney failure April 6, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 10, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter with the Rev. Linden Wendzel officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

Herman Lager was born Oct. 22, 1913, in rural Adair County to Henry and Mary (Ficken) Lager. A resident of the Adair and Madison County areas for most of his life, he married Eileen Jensen on Sept. 19, 1940. Herman was a retired employee for the city of Earlham. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and a sister.

He is survived by a daughter, Pearl Henkle (husband Walter) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a grandson, Daniel Henkle of Earlham.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham.
