MORTUARY

RUFUS EGBERT ALLEN

Rufus Edgbert Allen, youngest son of Obediah and Mary Allen, was born in Madison county, Iowa, March 1, 1884, and departed this life May 6, 1931, at Clarinda, Iowa, aged 47 years, two months and five days.

February 27, 1915, he was united in marriage to Grace Nicholson at Medford, Iowa. Two children, Lorraine and Pauline, of Merino, Colo., came to bless this union. Besides his wife and daughters, he is survived by two brothers, Albert of Hoperville, Iowa, and Cyrus of St. Charles; a half-brother, Glenn of Indianola, and two half sisters, Gladys Allen, Des Moines, and Mrs. Grace James of Gun City, Missouri; several nephews and other relatives. Two half-brothers, two brothers and three sisters have preceded him in death.

In the year 1915, he was converted, baptized, and became a member of the church at Cool.

In June, 1926, he had a stroke of paralysis from which he never fully recovered. In May, 1930, he was taken to Merino, Colo., where he wished to go, but to no avail. He gradually became worse and in January, 1931, he returned to Iowa state hospital, near Clarinda, and death relieved him of his long suffering.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 8, 1931, by Rev. A. R. Weed, pastor of the West Star and Worthington churches, at Elm Grove, and burial was in the King cemetery.
