Jack H. Smith, 81, of 440 NW 6th St. in Earlham died Saturday, July 17, 1999 of cancer at Madison County Hospital in Winterset. Memorial services were held July 21 at Redfield United Methodist Church with burial of the cremains at Bear Creek Cemetery in Earlham. Arrangements were made by Hamilton's Funeral Home.

Smith was born in Redfield and lived there until moving to Earlham eighteen years ago.

Smith was a retired farmer and trucker. He also served as Earlham Schools supervisor of busing. He is a WW II Navy Veteran and a member of the Earlham American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Smith of Earlham; one daughter, Nancy Johnson of Des Moines; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Middle River Hospice in Winterset.
