Almaretta Farlow Fosher

Almaretta, a daughter of Absolom and Sarah Farlow, was born on a farm in Linn county, Iowa, April 25th, 1854, and departed this life at midnight, September 17th, 1931, at the home of her son, Hubert C. Fosher, after an illness of almost two weeks’ duration.

A part of her girlhood was spent in northeastern Missouri, but the family, after a short sojourn there, returned to Iowa, locating in Madison county, where she grew to womanhood.

At the age of thirty-three, she was united in marriage to Samuel Fosher, who preceded her in death on October 29, 1912.

During the early years of her married life, she became a member of the old First Christian church, of Winterset, where she retained her membership until its abandonment.

She leaves surviving, her adopted son, Hubert C. Fosher, two grandchildren, Betty and Martha, and her brother, Albert Farlow, all of Winterset, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Hers was a simple, unpretentious life, a life of unremitting toil and sacrifice, marked by an intense love for and loyalty to her son and her people.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Tidrick Funeral home by the Rev. John T. Hall, pastor of the Baptist church. Interment was in the Primitive Baptist cemetery northeast of Winterset.
