Richard Bunker Davis, 45, of Orient, died of a liver ailment Oct. 18, 1997 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Funeral services are today, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset, Father Ed Pfeffer will officiate the services, and burial will follow at the Winterset Cemetery.
He was born in Winterset on April 1, 1952 to Harvey C. and Helen B. (Bunker) Davis. He entered the Navy and served in the Viet Nam War. He was a cartographer who operated Sunrise research which made tourism maps and had a contract with the State of Arkansas Tourism Department to publish maps. He was also a farm manager for Whispering Oaks Ranch. He returned to Orient in 1986 after living in Arkansas. He was a member and past director of American Hereford Association and a member and past officer of the Iowa Organic Growers and Buyers Association.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Surviving relatives include his father, of Orient; one sister, Diane Davis of Des Moines; one brother, Jon Davis of Springville; two nephews; and one niece.
