Arleta I. Cumings, 65, of Bella Vista, Ark., died of cancer Oct. 16, 2000 at her home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Judson American Baptist Church of which she was a member.

Arleta Cumings was born March, 1936, in Winterset to Charley and Evelyn (Rickets) Simpson. A graduate of Winterset High School, she married Karl N. Cumings of Peru on Oct. 22, 1954. She spent most of her life in Des Moines, moving to Bella Vista 10 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Bill of Denver, Colo., and Bob (wife Robin) of St. Peters, Mo.; a daughter, Trudy Skoag (husband Larry) of Barrington, Ill.; her mother-in-law, LaVere Cumings of Truro; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Johnson of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Pamela Madison of Truro; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Robert Cumings (wife Rosamond) of Manly; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Friends of Animals in Bella Vista.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Arleta Cumings, 65, of Bella Vista, Ark., died of colon cancer Oct. 16 at her home. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Judson American Baptist Church where she was a member.

Mrs. Cumings was born in Winterset, Iowa, and had lived in Des Moines most of her life before moving to Bella Vista 10 years ago.

She is survived by her husband, Karl; two sons, Bill of Denver, Colo., and Bob of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter, Trudy Skogh of Barrington; and two grandchildren.
