Ina V. Crouse, 87, of Winterset died March 1, 2003, of cancer at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held March 4 at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset, with Frank M. Smith officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.
Ina was born June 2, 1915, in Brewton, Ala., to James C. Cates and Bellmary Wiggins. On Sept. 16, 1933 she married Aaron M. Johnson in Flomaton, Ala. In September of 1954, she married Ralph Crouse in Santa Barbara, Calif. She worked in Los Angeles building aircraft during World War II and had been a governess. In addition to residing in Los Angeles for 20 years, she lived in Charlotte, N.C., and Alabama before moving to Winterset in 1959. She was a member and former Grand Chief of the Pythian Sisters and member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; four brothers, Matthew, Leon, Jessie and Billy Cates; one sister Mary Roberts; two sons, Lloyd Harold Johnson and Aaron Johnson, Jr.; and two stepsons, Robert Crouse and Ralph Crouse Jr.
She is survived by a brother, E. C. Cates of Mobile Ala.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Middle River Hospice.
